In the design field we can not only operate by processing traditional technical content (CAD 2D), but also by a systemic approach in line with the standards provided by the BIM – Building Information Modeling – , in order to achieve an integrated design (3D) that takes into account the multiple aspects of the building process (4D-5D).
The need to consider the infrastructures as digital models involves several key drivers such as: the analysis of the zone of influence, the evaluation of a work interference on the landscape pre-existing buildings, the interface with the other structures, the detailed analysis of the interaction between structural, architectural and plant engineering works.
This multidisciplinarity needs the data to be processed in different formats: the territory information and the plano-altimetric track are managed by GIS (Geographic Information System) platforms while the data related to structural and architectural works are processed as information modelling.
